24 Apr 2017: Mike Cribley

Doug Cribley RIP

My father Doug Cribley recently passed away. He was previously a member of the
AHA and I would be most grateful if you would post the following on the
obituaries section of your web site:

Doug Cribley crossed the bar on 12th February 2017 at the age of 87. Doug had
been suffering from Alzheimer’s for some time and spent his last few years at a
care home in Redruth, Cornwall near his son David and just a stone’s throw (or
should that be heaving line?) from Culdrose.

He joined in 1945 as a boy seaman but soon transferred to the Fleet Air Arm,
completing 24 years’ service in all. His ships included carriers, Theseus,
Implacable, Eagle, Centaur and Victorious plus air stations Eglinton (where he
met wife June), Hal Far, Yeovilton, Siskin, Brawdy, Lossiemouth and Culdrose.
His final draft was to the Hovercraft Trials Unit at Lee-on-Solent from where he
left for civvy street in 1969. He very much enjoyed the Association’s annual
reunion events and attended a number of these over the years.

Funeral was at Treswithian Downs Crematorium with a memorial service in
Wendover, Bucks (where he spent most of his life after leaving the service)
attended by members of Aylesbury RNA and Sea Cadets.

Bon voyage Doug.

Kind regards
Mike Cribley
Lt Cdr RN (rtd)

Condolences to family and friends. RIP Doug.
